Firstly, thank you very much for even visiting this particular page. The magic of "Forge: Loom Sequel" wouldn’t be possible without the support of those who donate.
We at Quill o’ the Wisp strive to ensure that the content we deliver is of the same quality one would expect from a Sierra or LucasArts game of the early 1990s. As can be seen from our Gallery selections, the backgrounds are expertly drawn and (from our standpoint) live up to the aforementioned standard.
The donations section was thus set up to keep art production going, since these backgrounds cost the project between $90-$120 USD each. That said, if you’re inclined to give any donation (even as little as $1), we can reward you for your assistance.
.....WIIFM? (What's In It For Me?):
- CREDIT! It goes without saying that you’ll receive credit for your generosity on our website / forum / completed game.
- CUSTOM REQUEST! Want to see something personal in Forge? You’ll have the chance to ask our team to include something meaningful to you, be it a bit of dialogue, an item, a special animation, etc. We do have to keep this within reason ( e.g., no chickens with pumpkin heads ;p ), so conditions do apply; but we’ll work with you to make it special.
- BRAG! You have the right to tell people: «Hey, I worked on that game!»
. - PERSONALIZED THANKS! I'm in no way a fan of standardized "thank you" messages written by bots, so you'll receive a heartfelt and personalized one. The answer will be sent to the email address linked to your paypal account. In case you didn't receive any reply, the email probably got lost in the web jungle, so feel free to contact us and claim it!
- PRIDE! Even without the perks above, you’ll know you contributed to a project that means a lot to a group of Loom fanatics out there; and supporting art and creativity is something anyone can feel good about.
Obviously we don’t ask you to extend beyond your means, but any assistance at all helps to move the project along that much faster. A great amount of time and money has already been invested into Forge, and we hope that the demo will serve as a testament to our ardent resolve to finish this game and do it well.
So, thank you again for reading this page; and thank you doubly should you decide to donate below.
In case you just don't feel like donating money, why don't you donate some MB, instead? The project's security heavily relies on backups and the chosen platform is Dropbox, a free service that offers web-storage which can be constantly synchronised with a folder on your hard-disk. Security is guaranteed and files are kept in a safe place, but at the same time sharing any file of your folder is easy and downloads are fast. Since the service is free, the initial space is limited and isn't enough to host the entire Forge directory. Anyway, Dropbox offers 500MB of extra space whenever a friend joins the service by following a referral link. Good news is the friend gains 500MB as well, so it's a real deal!
I believe Dropbox is a truly useful service, and I have been using it for about a couple of years now. So, if you feel like giving it a try and don't mind having a few MB extra space, please do so by clicking the link below. You'll be helping Forge (and yourself) without spending a single buck!

But don't forget what we need the most is talented people willing to offer their free time to help the project! What we hope for is to find people interested in joining the team permanently, but we also gladly accept any small help. It can be a tiny sprite, an animation, an article about us, or even simply spreading the word. Any of these is an extra step towards the realisation of Forge.

EXPENSES
Being crystal clear is a must when you ask for money, and since we have a table for donations, having one for the expenses is equally crucial. During the time I've been in charge of Forge there haven't been many expenses though, as the required art for the first Chapter was ready and the rest has been provided for free by me and the other team-members and cooperators. With the release of Forge: Chapter One though, since no pixel-artist has joined the team yet, the need to outsource one or more artists to work on the next Chapters becomes more and more likely. And pixel-art is quite costly as you probably know.
N.B. Some of you might have noticed two really high amounts of money, both in the Donations and in the Expenses table. The truth is 2000 USD is a rough approximation of what Duke Davidson, the former project-manager and team member has spent before I took charge in September 2012. Even though he hasn't technically donated that sum, he did it de facto: he was the one who paid for the initial game art; and when he decided to leave the team, he also explicitly donated that backgrounds and sprites to the project.
Quill O' the Wisp owes him a huge debt of gratitude, and Forge wouldn't be what it is without his generosity.
