: Forge: Chapter One - 1st beta-stage (Subscriptions closed)
: abisso June 24, 2012, 04:46:26 PM
So, time has almost come to enter the beta-stage for this long awaited demo.
I won't announce the exact date yet, but I believe it's a good idea to begin recruiting volunteers.

The following rules will be taken into consideration to choose the beta-testers:

1. Donors come first.
2. Members with a high post count come first.
3. First come, first served.

Don't forget being a beta-tester is a position of high responsibility, and not just a way to take a peek to the game before the official release. You're supposed to play with a notepad and a pen next to you all the time, writing down bugs, suggestions, typos, etc. and in such a way that they can be identified easily.

All the beta-testers will get proper credits, of course.

And after this warm up... get ready... set... go!

Subscriptions are open!

Sounds like a "work for free" job. (I want in!)

You know what you're risking when you say such things, don't you?  ;D

I offer myself to be a betatester.

Hi, remember me?  I'm Robert Carlson, and I offered a few times to do proofreading, so I'd be more than happy to do beta-testing.

The only thing I love more than playing old LucasArts games is exploring every nook and cranny of old LucasArts games, and sometimes I've even broken them! :D

MPinillos, I could have sworn you'd offer, mate!

And of course I do remember you Robert. I hope you didn't forget what I told you by email some time ago: when the demo is out, there could be a place for you in the team, if you're still interested. But this is not the place to discuss this topic.

Since I am a newcomer and didn't contribute to the project anyhow yet, I don't hope much to be enrolled to the beta-testing. But keep me on mind if it suddenly happens for you to have a lack of testers. I love to criticize other's flaws and mistakes ;)

Since you are no longer on MSN all the time *sniff* I'll post here and as you probably expected I'm here for all the betatesting :D

I would love to beta test for you.  I'm particularly good with proof-reading (I'm an editor) and grew up on the Loom game (it's what interested me in music as a child).

Guys please be patient. Last month has been a tough one but betatesting will start as soon as possible.

Thanks to everyone that has enrolled for now, but I sincerely expected more people to be interested in this phase. Spread the word.

Hi, I would love to betatest the demo.

And I'm "Bounce" by the way, the first donor (2010-09-17)

Keep up the great work.

Hi Abisso,

I've been following this project for awhile - I love old 90's adventure games, and of these, Loom is second only to The Longest Journey as my favourite. One of my oldest memories of using a computer is of puzzling my way through Loom with my Dad, who for some reason recieved a copy as part of a promotional deal. For awhile a few months back I was worried Forge would stall out, but I'm really excited to see how far along it's come. I've wanted to contribute for some time, but I don't know how to program and my artistic skills are pretty much nil. Beta-testing though, that I can do. I'm observant, articulate, and I'd love to participate in making Forge a fantastic reality. I've played a wide variety of adventure games, and I feel like I'm in a good position to explain why certain things would or wouldn't work for me. I'm also an English major and used to work as a proofreader - expect me to catch any typo that slips through. ;)

Anyways, I hope you'll consider making me a part of the beta team, and either way I wish you best of luck with the project.

- Gnu

I've been a fan of the 'point and click' adventures since I was very young, they were my first computer games (aside from the RTS genre) I started with the king's quest series and have loved them all my gaming life. I'd love to be a beta-tester for this game if you'll have me.

Betatesting will begin on 7th of January. I'll announce the "chosen ones" as soon as possible, but anyway every betatester will receive a special forum status which allows him / her to access the Betatesting Discussion sub-board. All the necessary info will be available there, but you can always contact me personally at:

info ] A.T. [ forgegame ? D.O.T. ? com

for every question.

It's pointless to say I'm terribly sorry for how late I am in making this announcement, and how many months have passed since the originally planned deadline. Let's hope the extra time I personally spent (and will spend in the next days) will make betatesters' work easier.

Thanks for the patience, and keep care.
-your humble Gabriele Codetyper, from the Guild of Game-makers

Hello, betatesting candidates!

My initial plan was to have about 10 betatesters, but since there's only 12 (13 counting Gerbel, but I'm not sure his post was an enrolling request, actually), I've decided to accept all of the candidates.

For the full release, however, I will take into account the "beta-testing skill" and dedication you've shown for this demo, and I may make some substitutions or even reduce the total.

Tomorrow I will upload a revised version of the "Guidelines for Contributors" (with the new betatesting section), grant you access to the forum, and open a topic there with all the needed info.

Until then, keep care,
-G

Hey, a little late, but I registered just to see if I could take part as a beta-tester. Huge fan of Loom and other Lucasarts Adventure games and would certainly do my part to help polish this game.

Thanks,
Viscosity

Forge Chapter One Beta-testing phase has begun the 7th of January and actual beta-testiing has started three days ago.

Thanks to all who offered, even to those who did that too late and to the ones who signed in and didn't confirm later.
