Everything Forge / Forge Progress - Melting Pot / ART - vga, svga, hd

Thanks Patrik, as I've said before, we'll discuss this opportunity with the other team members. It seems like you know the FOY team really well, from what you said... I suppose you've been an artist for them, then. From the looks of it, I think FOY is a great project, and with a very fine artist too. The demo is great and everything is in the old style while also renewed and original in a lot of ways. But yes, it's taking forever: I hope we'll do better. By the way, we're trying to have a relation of friendship and esteem with all the team-members, rather than considering them just workers. I just hope your FOY example wasn't an attempt to demonstrate the inferiority of 2d above 3d though!

Hi Patrik, I'm Abisso, the coder of the project. I took a tour on your webpage and seen your art... well, you have the right to speak about hi-res, since you're really good at it. I liked a lot your remake of Monkey Island's remake, much better than what the big company did. And also all the other 3d art is pretty nice. But the thing I liked most is the "painting" though! Maybe it's just me, but I can't really accept a 3d adventure game. I'm too connected to the old style, the old school. But as long as it is 2D, I also like higher resolutions (like the one of your "painting"). I may be speaking for myself alone, but I think this project should be aimed at the old fans and fill the gap left by the deletion of the two Loom sequels already planned in the early nineties. By the way, we're planning (and we started) doing it in 320x200, probably 16-bit color. And it's going to be a sequel, of course: ?topic=1And if you want to take a look at the art (there's a lot more, actually, the topic is a bit old): ?topic=23Thanks for your interest Patrik: we'll discuss your suggestion with the other team-members, and see what they think too. By the way, should I consider your post as an offer for a help in the art section? Hope to hear news from you on the boards!

Everything Forge / Forge Progress - Melting Pot / Is it a talkie?

I agree that it's absolutely necessary, but not a priority. When we have the game done, we'll start looking for voice-actors. I've seen in your post that you can do voice-overs, Patrik, and if you'd like to help, we'll surely contact you.

Everything Forge / Forge Progress - Melting Pot / Team's logo and name

I suppose not... the funny thing is that I started playing their browsergame Bitefight after writing this message, and didn't even know who they were before your post!
Still, even if we didn't decide any name yet, you can still think about a logo and maybe sketch it. I know a logo is often related to or containing the company name, but... just give it a try, will you?

Everything Forge / Forge Progress - Melting Pot / Team's logo and name

Now that we're past the initial stage, and we can almost call us a team, I think we should really think about having a logo and a name. Nothing crucial, of course, but if anyone's got an idea, please share it. This is the kind of things that help looking serious and feeling more confident.
Of course, the artists can be the most fit to this task, so if you, Kaio and Sag, would like to sketch something, that would be cool.
I will just suggest some names, instead. They're sorted from the one I like most to the one I like less:
1. The "Shore of Wonder" 2. Moirai Studios (the Moirai are Clotho, Lachesis and Athropos in Greek mythology) 3. The GameForge

Everything Forge / Forge Progress - Melting Pot / Random ideas

I go first:
-Since Archbishop Mandible is killed by Chaos he now is an undead trapped within one of the 2 sides of the Pattern. It would be cool if Rusty could meet him.
-And what about the Dragon? A second encounter with his killer coul put Rusty in a really entertaining challenge!

Everything Forge / Forge Progress - Melting Pot / Random ideas

When I plan a game, I often come up with some ideas during the day, which I try to write down for further development. Even something like "what if the protagonist meets this character?" or "it would be cool if you could see this location" or anything else can be worth sharing with the game-making team. Sometimes, from a word or two, a really cool idea can take form, and then it can be expanded and adapted properly with a discussion.
So, in this thread you can post everything (game-related, please!) that comes to your mind, as simple notes, or even more complicated suggestions.

General Discussion / Adventure Gaming - Loom Island / Haven't you always wondered? (LOOM style)
|
on: August 02, 2009, 10:22:00 PM

I like this easter egg thing! Always adding some more entertainment to a game. Well, there's a lot I'd like to see as a bonus cut-scene:
-The Dragon looting the Glassmakers -The wizard trying to crush the Volcano and being eaten by the Dragon -the weavers shaped like swans , as they enter for the first time in the Shore of Wonder (what did Cygna say? Did they have an argument?).
But what if some of these (and the ones in Duke's post) were playable instead? Just a few minutes of gameplay of course... but it could be more interesting.

Everything Forge / Forge Progress - Melting Pot / Standard "Introduce Yourself" Thread

Abisso, from Italy. Pleased to be here.
After a few adventure games developed by myself, a lot of unfinished projects and, most important, about three years of game-making inactivity, I decided to get back into business.
Duke was in need of help with a game of his (didn't know it was The Forge), and I offered.
I can code and help with the plot and the puzzle creation. We haven't yet decided which of these things I'll actually do in the game-making team.
There's not much more to say: I'm 25, and I study Computer Science at Pisa, Italy, just 20 minutes from Livorno, where I live.
