As I am a native german speaker and speak tolerable english and understand it even better I want to translate everything into german. I could start with the demo. So, here is the thread... what about some .trs files?

I could have sworn you'd offer your services as translator Sel. Thanks a lot! But no .trs until the demo is complete, you spoiler-looking guy.

Oh, THAT demo. If you've got time to spend and can do a decent translation without using strange characters, it'll be my pleasure to provide you the file.

@smasherimp Thanks for the offer Imp, but I've learned (from personal experience) that translations have to be done by one whose native language is the target one. So you would probably do wonderful translations from German to English, but it would take you a lot more time and effort to do good English->German ones.
That said, you've got a PM, since a native English speaker can do a lot of other things very well.
@selmiak No, really: I know that German uses a lot of peculiar characters, like umlauts, and it's too late now to provide a workaround for that. I don't have the original tech-demo project any more probably. Sadly AGS supports only fonts with a limited number of characters, and so you need to use multiple fonts for foreign languages and put some simple lines of code at the game start to check the translation file chosen by the user. With languages such as Italian you can provide a decent workaround by using apostrophes instead of accented characters, but with languages such as Swedish, for example, you can't.

AGS let's you choose the translation file via the winsetup.exe, but if you don't have the original demo project files anymore how would you provide me (or anyone else) with the .trs files needed in the first place? I already pixeled Umlaut letters into various AGS games, and replaced special characters with them so that should be no problem, not having the project files is a problem though So, let's wait for the Chapter1 Demo and translate this instead?!

Actually I have the .trs file from the tech-demo. The only thing I don't know if it's possible to compile it into a .tra valid file without the original project. I could try, but, as I already said, this would be pointless without a peculiar font and the code to show it.

I doubt it will be possible to compile a valid .tra file without the original project files. But I really want to be wrong on that, please try it and it is possible the write ae for ä in german for example. This is not as nice as having the completely correct letter but hey, more people can play and understand what's going on with a translation!

Sorry for the late reply.
This depends on selmiak's current availability. The translation process will start in a few days from now. I'll be sure to contact you if you want to split the burden.
If you're interested in proofreading, it would be another option.
