what is lrg?

Limited Run Games. They do limited physical runs of niche/indie/retro games on PC and consoles. Their Loom re-release was a while ago now, of course.

And to you as well!

Can't believe my prediction of no more official Loom things already got disproven, with a LRG release of Loom currently available for preorder. Wild.

Not the only one. I still come around from time to time, and I keep promoting the first chapter in the adventure games circles when I see the chance. Doubt it will bring the project back from the dead, but since we just got a sequel to Monkey Island, maybe a Forge game made by Brian Moriarty is not so far ahead? Wishful thinking Tongue

I thought that, too, when talking to Cobb in RtMI, hah. I'm not expecting to ever see another official Loom thing made, but I'm never going to stop dreaming of Forge, Fold, and Loom Remastered.

Since I made that last post, I have again gotten into the habit of checking this forum a few times a week, hoping that there'll be some new activity, hah... Does anyone else check this place out from time to time, or is it just me at this point?

Wow, I just remembered this project while working on an indie game of my own, and came back here to see what has happened since. There was a time when I was checking this forum every day to see if there were updates, and there was even a time when I (a little too excited) asked to help out with the game - but didn't at the time really have the required skill level. As much as I wish we could have seen it completed, I understand that it was very ambitious and has now fizzled out, as these big fan projects often do, but wanted to say thanks for the good times.
6  Project Assistance / Betatesting / Re: Forge: Chapter One - 2nd beta-stage (Post to volunteer as tester) on: March 28, 2013, 05:40:20 AM
2nd Beta-stage will begin on the 7th of April. I'll reveal who are the chosen candidates some days before, and give them the Beta-Tester status which grants access to the Beta-testing discussion private topic.
You will find info and guidelines there.

Can't wait!

You already know who I am, so I don't know if I need to write a lot about myself, but alright.

I'm Alex IDV, a 19-year-old video game enthusiast from Sweden. My favorite genre is easily adventure games, and one of my favorites is Loom. I've replayed it several times, both the Talkie version and the FM-Towns one, my favorite being FM-Towns with its music and character portraits, so I'm really looking forward to Forge.

I don't know what else to write here... I guess I could mention that I really like translating texts from English to Swedish and vice versa for some reason. I've beta-tested some Mario fan-games that my internet friends have developed, if that counts for anything.

Thanks for your interest Aladdin (also, nice avatar).

We're still far from having the complete game ready, but progress has been constant throughout the life-span of this project. Slow, but constant.

If you want my two cents, I hope neither Lucas nor other major companies will ever attempt a sequel. I don't like the style and feel of new adventure games, and, on top of that, I'd love Quill O' the Wisp to release both Forge and Fold. Seriously.
Well, LucasArts is owned by Disney now, and they're supposedly very lenient with fan games, at least as long as they're family friendly, but I don't know.

Nice to hear everything's going well!

On a slightly related note, have you thought about doing The Fold too, eventually? I mean, yeah, that would be far in the future, but I just wonder if you've thought about plot ideas and stuff.

Sorry Alex, but it would be very unprofessional to inlcude you at this moment, although I'd really like to. There has been plenty of time, and I was 100% sure that you hadn't missed the topic. My guess was that you didn't want to taint your playing experience by seeing an intermediate, buggy version, but I understand now that this wasn't the reason you didn't sign in.
If I were to include you, I'd have to do the same with other people, but unless some of the current testers resign, I'm against that.

Your help offer is appreciated though and if I'd decide to open the subscriptions once again you'd be my first choice because you are, and I'm sure you always will be. a piece of Forge.
Yeah, I understand, and it's okay. It would indeed be very unfair to let me in after the deadline has passed, and I respect your choice.

I suppose you could say I'm back. While I still have browsed the Forge forums, I have felt too busy to do beta testing, so I didn't sign up for that. Not sure if it's too late for that now, but if you want me to help out with it, I'm available.

Meant to reply earlier, but

Take your time - while I appreciate that you're keeping us up to date on what's going on, there's no deadline. Glad to hear your sister is getting better. Take care!

Speaking of voice acting...

Will it be possible to turn them on and off while playing? Sometimes I prefer to just read what the characters are saying, and imagining my own voices.
14  Project Assistance / Audio / Re: Musician and music tips on: May 11, 2012, 03:36:12 PM
Although I'm not part of the production team myself (is there a team at all, or is it only Abisso?), I'm pretty sure Forge will only feature arrangements of classic music, just like Loom.

I check for new posts on this forum at least once a day Smiley

EDIT: And it's nice to hear about the domain name. Forge.freeiz.com doesn't have the same ring to it as forgegame.com!
